En Théorie
Meet En Théorie, our 1984 Prout Snowgoose 37 cruising catamaran. Designed for long-distance sailing, she is a sturdy, dependable vessel with the reassuring feel of a proven cruising design. She is not a modern luxury yacht: the experience aboard is authentic, informal and full of character. Come aboard with a spirit of adventure and discover the River Gambia at an unhurried pace.
Depending on the cruise, you will be looked after by the captain and one or two additional crew members, including the cook. They prepare your meals and take care of you throughout the voyage.
A Different Way to Cruise The Gambia
Most boat excursions in The Gambia take place aboard traditional pirogues, which remain an important part of the country’s culture and everyday life. En Théorie offers a different kind of experience.
As a twin-hull cruising catamaran, she is designed to provide excellent stability both while sailing and at anchor. Her layout allows guests to sit comfortably, move between the cockpit and the deck, enjoy meals, fish or observe the river without remaining in the same place throughout the journey.
The sheltered cockpit, cabins, bathroom, kitchen and onboard electricity also make longer journeys and changing weather conditions more comfortable. The electric refrigerator keeps food and drinks properly chilled throughout the cruise—a particularly welcome advantage in The Gambia’s warm climate.
This combination of stability and practical onboard facilities creates a relaxed and reassuring experience for families, couples and guests who may not be accustomed to travelling by boat.
En Théorie is not a modern luxury yacht. She is a robust, characterful cruising catamaran, carefully refitted to offer an authentic and comfortable way to discover the River Gambia.
Accommodation and onboard facilities
En Théorie has three cabins, each sleeping up to two guests. Inside, you will find comfortable berths and compact shelving for clothes and personal belongings. The cabins can be secured from the inside, and sheets, blankets and bath towels are provided.
The galley is equipped with an oven and refrigerator. The bathroom, known onboard as the heads, has a marine toilet, shower, and hot and cold running water.
Outside, guests can relax in the cockpit or enjoy the foredeck and aft deck. The onboard 12 V and 220 V electrical systems allow you to charge phones and other small electronic devices. For day cruises, the catamaran can welcome up to ten guests; depending on the layout, up to ten seats and five tables can be arranged.
Captain’s Cabin
The Captain’s Cabin is arranged in two connected areas: a sleeping area with a 160 × 190 cm double berth and a separate storage area with shelving.
Crew Cabin
The Crew Cabin is compact, with a 110 × 200 cm berth and shelving alongside it. It is comfortable for one guest and can sleep two when required, although space is limited.
