Prepare for Your Cruise

A Few Simple Tips for a Wonderful Time on Board

A little preparation will help you enjoy every moment of your Gambia cruise. Please read these practical recommendations before leaving your hotel or accommodation.

Before You Leave

What to Wear

  • Choose comfortable, close-fitting clothes that are easy to move around in.
  • Avoid long dresses and very loose clothing that may catch on deck equipment.
  • Wear flat, secure shoes with good grip. High heels are not suitable on board.
  • Bring sunglasses and sun protection.
  • If you wear a hat, choose one that can be secured in the wind.

Personal Belongings

  • Avoid bringing valuable jewellery or items that could fall into the water.
  • Keep phones, cameras and small belongings secure while moving around the boat.
  • Bring any medication you may need during the cruise.
  • If essential medication must be kept cool, please speak to our crew. Space can be made available in one of our refrigerators.

Comfort and Safety on the River

Your Comfort

The Gambia River is generally calm. However, if you know that you are sensitive to motion sickness, we recommend bringing the medication you normally use.

Drink regularly, protect yourself from the sun and tell a crew member if you feel uncomfortable at any time.

Moving Around on Board

Please follow the crew’s instructions and use the handholds when moving around the catamaran. Decks may sometimes be wet, so move calmly and carefully.

Children remain under the supervision of their accompanying adults throughout the cruise.

Please Arrive Early — The Catamaran Leaves on Time

Please arrive at Denton Bridge at least 15 minutes before your confirmed departure time. To respect all our guests and keep the day’s operations running smoothly, the catamaran leaves at the confirmed time and unfortunately cannot wait for late arrivals.

Please allow extra time for traffic and for finding the meeting point. It would be a great shame to miss your cruise because of a late arrival.

Travelling with a Pet

Pets are welcome only when the catamaran has been booked as a private cruise and the arrangement has been agreed with us in advance.

Preparing for a Multi-day Cruise

Please bring only the clothes and personal belongings you need during the cruise, preferably in a compact bag. Storage can be arranged for other luggage that you do not need on board.

Operational and River Conditions

For safety, comfort or operational reasons, the route, timing or order of activities may occasionally be adjusted. Our crew will always keep you informed and will do everything possible to preserve the quality of your experience.
